Location: Bloomington, MN
Job Type: Full-Time, Contract $80/hr

Introduction

CPI is seeking an Advanced FPGA Engineer to join our team supporting leading-edge defense technology programs. In this role, you'll design and develop complex FPGA and ASIC systems used in secure, high-performance applications. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise to projects that directly impact national security and mission success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, verify, and document ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) and FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) developments.
  • Define system architecture, simulation plans, and detailed design approaches.
  • Develop module interfaces and manage all aspects of device design, simulation, and verification.
  • Evaluate the design process, including synthesis, place-and-route, timing, and power utilization.
  • Create and execute functional test and simulation plans.
  • Analyze results and troubleshoot performance or design issues.
  • Review vendor capabilities, foundry technologies, and device libraries as needed.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the ASIC/FPGA engineering organization.
  • Research and analyze design proposals and specifications to determine feasibility and requirements.
  • Select components and equipment based on performance and reliability criteria.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to complete major programs and projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related STEM field, plus 5+ years of relevant experience ; or a Master's degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience .
  • Strong understanding of ASIC/FPGA design concepts, principles, and verification methods .
  • Proficiency with FPGA design tools and simulation environments.
  • Experience with synthesis, timing analysis, and hardware validation.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to the nature of work.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance .
