Job Description

Hill International is seeking a Business Development Lead in our eastern Mid-Atlantic Region

This position requires a dynamic individual skilled in business development, including identifying and pursuing opportunities, establishing positive client relationships through meetings and networking, developing competitor knowledge, creating win strategies, leading proposal and interview preparations, assisting in strategic hires, and maintaining ongoing client relationships. The focus will be on agency construction management and owner’s representative services in the public and private sectors for water, wastewater, infrastructure, transit, and aviation markets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, or Construction Management
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Operations or Business Development within a professional AEC firm, preferably with Program Management and Construction Management experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Self-motivated, success-oriented, and organized
  • Familiarity with the local market, clients, and competitors
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities:

Identifying & Pursuing Opportunities:

  • Develop strategies to grow the business, including strategic hires and cross-selling
  • Lead large pursuits as Capture Manager
  • Identify and develop opportunities aligned with business strategy
  • Formulate client and opportunity strategies
  • Lead Go/No-Go decisions
  • Coordinate team efforts for pursuits

Establishing Positive Client Relationships:

  • Participate in industry networking
  • Identify target clients and meet with potential clients
  • Understand client needs and decision drivers
  • Engage effectively with clients and document interactions

Competitor Knowledge:

  • Research competitors’ strengths and weaknesses
  • Lead teaming strategies when appropriate
  • Use intelligence to inform win strategies

Developing Win Strategies:

  • Identify decision processes and drivers
  • Develop and lead proposals and presentations based on win strategies
  • Manage proposal processes and coach teams

Help Identify Strategic Hires:

  • Determine hiring needs based on opportunities
  • Coordinate with recruiters and industry networks
  • Plan hires to minimize bench time

Maintain Client Relationships:

  • Serve as internal client advocate post-project
  • Support operational client relations
  • Develop client strategies to prioritize client interests

Cost/Contracts/Legal:

  • Review conflicts of interest
  • Support pricing strategies
  • Participate in legal and contractual reviews
  • Lead teaming agreements and MOUs
