We are currently supporting FEMA-funded mitigation efforts under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and are seeking dedicated professionals to join our growing team.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified FEMA Site Inspector/Project Manager to support residential elevation projects in Marion, South Carolina , funded under FEMA’s HMGP. This role is pivotal to ensuring construction milestones, compliance, and contractor performance are in line with federal and local standards. The selected candidate will work directly with homeowners, contractors, local officials, and the program management team to oversee site inspections, maintain records, and manage project progress from pre-construction to final closeout.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the on-site representative overseeing residential elevation projects funded by FEMA.
Conduct pre-construction site inspections and verify existing conditions.
Monitor elevation activities and construction milestones for compliance with design specs, safety, and environmental standards.
Track and report construction progress, identify delays or deviations, and assist in resolving issues in coordination with engineers and contractors.
Ensure proper documentation including elevation certificates, pre/post photos, permits, and homeowner signatures.
Attend project status meetings and provide regular updates to program leadership.
Work closely with local government officials, homeowners, and contractors to coordinate schedules and resolve field issues.
Support project closeout by compiling final inspection reports, ensuring punch list items are completed, and verifying compliance with HMGP requirements.
Maintain accurate logs and records using FEMA or program-specified data systems and tools.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in construction management, inspection, or project management on FEMA elevation or mitigation projects.
Familiarity with FEMA HMGP and elevation-specific requirements (including use of elevation certificates and NFIP standards).
Strong working knowledge of construction practices, especially related to structural elevation, foundation systems, and residential retrofits.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Must be able to pass a background check and eligibility verification for federal disaster programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working on FEMA-funded hazard mitigation projects (Elevation, Reconstruction, or Acquisition).
Experience managing multiple concurrent residential construction projects.
Knowledge of South Carolina building codes and floodplain regulations is a plus.
Compensation & Schedule:
Competitive salary (commensurate with experience).
Full-time, 40 hours/week; occasional evening/weekend work may be required during site mobilization or emergencies.
