Job Description

Job Summary:

Harrah’s Northern California is looking for a Finance Intern. This internship offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in various financial operations. Key responsibilities will include assisting with financial analysis, accounting tasks, budgeting and auditing, managing accounts payable/receivable, and contributing to financial reporting and special projects.

  Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong initiative and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge in finance and accounting.
  • Professional drive with a strong desire to learn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Passion for finance within the hospitality, gaming, or entertainment industry.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist the finance team in daily administrative tasks.
  • Learns the operational workings of the department assigned by observing Team Members, participating in meetings, asking questions, and evaluating processes and services.
  • Assists department management with assigned operational functions consistent with the strategic plan and vision for the department, division, and organization.
  • Assist in analyzing financial data and generating reports to support decision-making processes.
  • Participate in daily accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.
  • Aid in preparing budgets and financial forecasts and monitor actual performance against projections.
  • Support internal audits by gathering and reviewing financial documents and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Support in managing invoices, processing payments, and tracking receivables.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Completes various finance-related projects as assigned by the finance team.
  • Collaborate with Interns from other departments to organize, complete, and present group project (when applicable).
  • Develop an understanding of each area of the Casino Finance Division.
  • Volunteer in events organized by the H.E.R.O. Committee to provide support to local organizations in the community.

  • Team members will participate in all mandatory meetings and pre-shift BUZZ sessions.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must present a well-groomed, professional appearance.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and complies with all state, federal and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work a varied schedule including holidays, nights and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to work a reasonable amount of overtime when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  Physical, Mental & Environmental Demands:

  • Must be able to maneuver around all areas of the casino.
  • Must be able to work on the computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment including but not limited to computer, keyboard, mouse, copy machine, printer and facsimile.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, pull and push up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in areas containing secondhand smoke, dust, loud noises and bright lights.
  • Other duties as assigned.
