About VMSC
VMSC Emergency Medical Services is a nonprofit EMS organization dedicated to making a difference one day, one call, one life at a time. We serve communities across Montgomery, Bucks, Philadelphia, and Delaware Counties with a commitment to innovation, clinical excellence, and compassionate care.
Our vision is bold: Through compassion, innovation, and professionalism, we envision a future where every life can be saved, touched, and transformed by our care.
To support this vision, we must grow our funding infrastructure in ways that reflect the scale and impact of our mission. That’s where you come in.
About the Role
VMSC is seeking a highly experienced, self-directed Grants and Philanthropy Manager to launch and lead a comprehensive development function. This is not a support role—it’s a builder’s role. You’ll create and manage a development program that drives new revenue through grants, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and community campaigns.
You will report to the Chief Business Development Officer but operate with a high degree of autonomy. Your charge is simple: Substantially tap into the funding mechanisms that will fuel VMSC’s growth, innovation, and long-term sustainability as a nonprofit leader in public safety and healthcare.
We’re looking for someone who understands both the strategy and execution of fundraising—from writing successful government grants to building authentic relationships with philanthropic partners.
Key Responsibilities
· Research, write, and submit competitive grant proposals to local, state, federal, and private funders
· Cultivate major donors, corporate sponsors, and community stakeholders in support of VMSC’s mission
· Build and implement a diversified development strategy aligned with organizational priorities and growth plans
· Develop compelling cases for support, annual giving campaigns, and donor stewardship materials
· Track and manage reporting requirements, compliance, and impact data for awarded grants
· Lead and coordinate donor outreach events, recognition campaigns, and fundraising mailers
· Collaborate with leadership and finance to identify funding gaps, operational needs, and program expansion goals
· Create internal systems to manage deadlines, donor pipelines, and grant reporting calendars
· Regularly report fundraising progress, grant success rates, and pipeline development to leadership
· Represent VMSC to external partners, foundations, and business leaders across the region
· Embed a culture of philanthropy and impact storytelling throughout the organization
What We’re Looking For
· 5+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, or development strategy
· Proven track record of securing grants and major gifts from diverse funding sources
· Excellent writing, communication, and storytelling skills with an eye for mission alignment
· Strong project management skills and ability to work independently without daily oversight
· Confident relationship builder, able to represent VMSC to high-level donors and funders
· Deep understanding of nonprofit funding models, compliance, and philanthropic trends
· Passion for public service, health equity, and community impact
Bonus Points
· Experience in healthcare, EMS, public health, or community safety sectors
· Familiarity with regional philanthropic networks and business communities
· Experience with donor management tools, CRM systems, or foundation databases
· Comfort analyzing budgets and writing outcome-based performance reports
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $70,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications, with performance-based bonus opportunities tied to fundraising growth, new donor development, and grant acquisition.
Benefits include:
· Employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance (with dependent coverage available)
· Employer-paid life insurance and short-term disability
· 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
· Paid Personal Leave (PPL) that grows with tenure
· Paid holidays and sick time
· Tuition reimbursement and continuing education support
· The opportunity to shape and lead a strategic, high-impact function in one of the region’s fastest-growing nonprofit EMS organizations
