Is Cascade Tropicals the place for you? We are looking for a bilingual Greenhouse Production Manager (English and Spanish fluency) to join our tight-knit team, focusing on our greenhouse production efforts with data analytics, teamwork, and a curious mindset.

As the Greenhouse Production Manager at Cascade Tropicals, you will have the opportunity to oversee the flow of our greenhouse production cycle, from forecasting production needs, managing our production schedule, and stepping in to help where needed to ensure we meet our customers’ needs.

OVERVIEW OF WHAT YOUR FIRST YEAR COULD BE:

Within the first 30 days:

  • Have introductory meetings with each team member at the Greenhouse as well as key players at Cascade Tropicals to gain insight into the workflow of the business.
  • Start to understand the processes regarding forecasting, input buying, inventory control, production cycle, and the relationship between Cascade Tropicals and the Greenhouse.
  • Gain understanding of how the Greenhouse manages an effective production schedule, considering use of resources, labor, space, materials and tools and start creating the weekly availability to send to Cascade Tropicals.

3 months and ongoing:

  • Be consistently available and supportive to the Greenhouse staff through open dialogue, addressing questions related to executing production plans, and actively fostering a culture of trust, clear communication, and strong teamwork to ensure alignment & shared success.
  • Partner with Greenhouse team members to begin forecasting sales by inputting data into associated spreadsheets with oversight from the Owner and team.
  • Fully own inventory cycle counts at the Greenhouse and weekly detailed inventory reviews to plan production.

6 months and ongoing:

  • Collaborate with the Managers and Buyers of Cascade Tropicals to plan and coordinate the plants needed by reviewing profitability and inventory.
  • Ensure production processes follow best practices of safety amongst the team and ensure product quality meets expectations.
  • Coordinate with different departments between Cascade Tropicals and the Greenhouse to ensure potential issues are addressed proactively.

12 months and ongoing:

  • Have a strong understanding of monthly forecasting and continue to partner with 2-3 Greenhouse team members to split forecasting 200-300 items per month.
  • Take full ownership of input buying by demonstrating a thorough understanding of the process for organizing input purchases.
  • Begin to review capacity plans with the Owner on optimal numbers of crop cuttings to purchase, collaborating with the Owner to ensure the upcoming season is stocked with the company's most profitable plants.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience working in a plant nursery or greenhouse production facility, with exposure to operations required
  • Bilingual, with proficiency in both English and Spanish required
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing and/or analyzing inventory or supply chain data required
  • Proficient in Google Workplace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides) and the Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Proven organizational and time management skills, with the ability to pivot as unexpected changes, requests or issues come up required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and detail oriented with exceptional interpersonal skills required
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or lead role a plus
  • Understanding of lean practices within process improvements a plus
  • Familiar with houseplant varieties a plus

WORKING HOURS, COMPENSATION, AND COMPANY BENEFITS:

Working Hours: Mon-Fri, starting 7:30 AM (off-season) or 7:00 AM (summer) for daily team meeting; 1-day onsite at Cascade Tropicals, 3-days onsite at the Greenhouse, 1-day optional remote work

Compensation range: $70,000-$85,000 annually based on experience and skillset
