Job Description

Perform clerical/administrative duties for the Health Information Management Department.



This is a full-time, benefit eligible position. The schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - JOB SPECIFIC

  • Answer telephone and provide assistance to callers in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Receive, review to make sure authorization is HIPAA compliant and dated properly then enter in the Authorization of Disclosure log
  • Makes sure name, birthdate, and number is on every page of requested medical records
  • Mail, email, or fax records to the requestor after the request has been filled along with affidavit if requested after reviewing to verify records being sent are the correct records of dates requested
  • Prepare invoices for records that require billing
  • Release records within 15 days from receipt of request
  • Send Medical Source Statements to provider to be completed after fee has been collected
  • Sort, prepare and scan documents into EHR
  • Audit ten percent of daily scanned documents to ensure the material is scanned properly and in the proper location within the EHR
  • Assist with chart conversions and purges as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


    Royal Oaks ONLY (in addition to the above)
  • Audit the previous day's discharged records for completeness
  • Quality check scanned material to ensure it is in the EHR system

    High School/GED preferred



    QUALIFICATION(S): WORK EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS


    At least two (2) years' experience preferred
