Job Summary
We are looking for Industrial Painters & Blasters to join our team for our growing Field Division, for Canadian wide work fronts starting Mid April.. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces and applying high-quality industrial coatings. You will work both indoors and outdoors in various industrial settings throughout the year. The available positions require a strong attention to detail and the ability to use a variety of tools and materials to ensure that all work meets safety and quality standards.

Positions Available
Brock is currently looking for multiple candidates to fill various positions:
  • Apprentice.
  • Journey Person.
  • NACE/AMPP CIP Level 2, Certified Coating Inspector (minimum).
  • NACE/AMPP CIP Level 3, Senior Coating Inspector (Ideally).
Wage is determined by Skill level, Experience and Trade Qualifications.

Candidates with the following experiences would be preferred:
  • Previous Facility Work: Hands-on experience in industrial or facility settings, demonstrating familiarity with safety protocols and maintenance procedures.
  • Sandblasting and Coating Internals of Tanks and Vessels: Experience in preparing and coating the interior surfaces of tanks and vessels, ensuring proper surface preparation and application of coatings.
  • Sandblasting and Coating of Concrete: Experience in sandblasting and applying coatings to concrete surfaces, which includes knowledge of materials and techniques suited for concrete preparation and finishing.
Minimum Requirements 
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
  • Safety Training: Completion of CSTS 2020 with WHMIS (Construction Safety Training System) is necessary. Additional safety certifications such as Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, H2S Alive, and Standard First Aid are preferred. (Issued by Energy Safety Canada Preferred or Training Course that can be verified as an Equivalent Standard).
  • Physical Ability: You should be able to work long hours (up to 12 hours) in different temperatures, both inside and outside, including working in confined spaces in all seasons.
  • Noise and Vibration: The work environment may have moderate to severe noise and vibrations, so you may need to wear hearing protection.
  • Respirator Use: You must be comfortable wearing a full-face respirator and media blasting hood for extended periods.
  • Climbing and Balance: The role requires climbing and maintaining balance on ladders and scaffolding at high heights.
  • Physical Tasks: You should be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Footing: Maintaining footing on potentially slippery surfaces is essential.
  • Vision and Hearing: Good vision (with correction if needed) and hearing (with a hearing aid if necessary) are important for safety and communication.
  • Communication Skills: You must be able to effectively communicate with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Coordination: The ability to use your arms and hands to reach for, handle, and feel objects is crucial for this role.
  • Drug and Alcohol Testing: A negative result on a Drug & Alcohol Pre-Access test is required.
  • Driving License: A valid driving license is an asset but not mandatory.
  • NACE/AMPP: Would be an asset but not required.
Essential Functions
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
  • Surface Preparation: You will operate hand tools and abrasive blast equipment to prepare surfaces for coating. This includes cleaning and preparing surfaces by scraping, sanding, and sand-blasting.
  • Repairing Surfaces: You will fill cracks and holes with appropriate filler materials to ensure a smooth surface for painting.
  • Applying Coatings: You will apply various types of coatings, including inorganic and organic zincs, epoxies, and urethanes, to protect structural steel, piping, vessels, and tanks.
  • Following Specifications: It is essential to ensure that all work is done according to contractor specifications and safety requirements.
  • Equipment Maintenance: You will prepare, operate, inspect, and maintain abrasive blast and coating equipment, ensuring it is clean and functional.
  • Safety Procedures: Adherence to all safety protocols and standards, including OSHA regulations and specific contractor safety procedures, is critical.
  • Project Requirements: You should be able to read and understand project specifications and documentation to determine the necessary requirements for each job.
  • Additional Duties: You may be assigned other tasks as needed to support the team and ensure project success.

  • Motel/Hotel. Motel/Hotel provided by Brock, LOA will be provided for Meals, amount of LOA is project specific. Travel to site will be in Crew Truck or Flights if available.
  • Intown (Edmonton and Surrounding Area). You provide your own Lodging, Travel to Brock Facility where Crew truck will be provided, or you travel to site in your own personal vehicle.
