Job Description

Junior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - Azure Government & Defense
We're seeking a motivated Junior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support and learn the design, implementation, and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure with a focus on Azure Government cloud and Department of Defense (DoD) requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in deploying and managing cloud architectures using Azure Government cloud platform
  • Manage and maintain RabbitMQ message queuing systems including clustering, configuration, and performance monitoring
  • Learn and contribute to infrastructure as code using Terraform and Terragrunt for modular, reusable configurations
  • Support GitLab CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance for automated infrastructure deployment
  • Monitor system performance, assist with troubleshooting, and help optimize resource utilization
  • Learn and apply DoD security standards, NIST frameworks, and FedRAMP requirements
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and development teams to support scalable, reliable application infrastructure

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years experience with Azure cloud platform (Azure Government experience preferred)
  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Security+ certification or other DoD 8140 approved certification
  • Hands-on experience with RabbitMQ administration, clustering, and troubleshooting
  • Basic understanding of infrastructure as code concepts (Terraform experience preferred)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and GitLab or similar platforms
  • Basic knowledge of containerization technologies (Podman, Kubernetes)
  • Foundational scripting skills (Python, Bash)
  • Interest in learning DoD security frameworks and compliance requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to travel regularly for on-site work at Ft. Meade or Crystal City locations

Preferred:

  • Azure fundamentals certification or working toward Azure certifications
  • Experience with other message brokers and enterprise integration patterns
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Basic understanding of networking and security concepts
  • Educational background in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • Previous internship or project experience with cloud technologies
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
