Mechanical Design Engineer - Packaging Machinery

Location: Sturtevant, WI

Pay Range: $40-$50 per hour (Experience-dependent)

Type: Contract to Hire OR Direct Hire

Summary:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop and support innovative solutions for dry product packaging machines. This role requires a strong foundation in engineering principles, mechanical design, and problem solving, with responsibilities spanning concept development, design, manufacturing support, and technical customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and improve packaging machine components using sound engineering calculations.
• Select materials and components based on performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Support manufacturing, sales, and service teams with clear technical documentation and troubleshooting.
• Use 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor) to produce detailed mechanical designs.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to drive product quality and process improvements.
• Prioritize work using internal project management tools and contribute to technical documentation.

Requirements:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of designing high-speed automation, robotics, or packaging equipment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, stress/strain, and design for manufacturing.
• Proficient in CAD (Autodesk Inventor Preferred) and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
