To function as an essential member of the surgical team focused on OR suite preparation, instrument processing and patient transportation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

\n\t
• Assists with the transportation of patients and with meeting the needs of patients awaiting surgery.
\n\t
• Assists with housekeeping duties (dusting reorganizing) all supply areas and closets.
\n\t
• Maintains linen supply in department.
\n\t
• Obtains supplies requested by surgical team before and during surgery.
\n\t
• Operates autoclaves and sterrad machines.
\n\t
• Run diagnostics and autoclave biological indicators.
\n\t
• Assists with operating room preparation prior to surgery. Damp dust all furniture.
\n\t
• Assists with positioning and moving patients under the direction of RN. Supports extremitites during skin prep.
\n\t
• Responsible for the proper handling and cleaning of all instruments.
\n\t
• Knowledgeable about specialty instruments in regards to decontamination, sterilization and reprocessing.
\n\t
• Maintains instrument sets with proper functioning instruments and initiates repairs when needed.
\n\t
• Assists with breaking down setups after operations and preparing O.R. suite for next case.
\n\t
• Assists with restocking room closets and supply areas.
\n\t
• Prepares supplies and equipment according to surgeons preference lists for next days cases.
\n\t
• Performs errands as needed to other departments.
\n\t
• Maintains inventory of supplies needed for instrument processing.
\n\t
• Prepares instruments for transport to CS for processing
\n\t
• Maintains instrument storage areas to include specialty carts.
\n\t
• Cleans and defrosts refrigerators in staff lounge weekly.
\n\t
• Performs any other duties as assigned.
\n

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE

\n\t
• Prior OR experience preferred
\n

EDUCATION

• H.S. Diploma
\n
