Job Description

We are hiring immediately for Jockey Driver's to join our team working at the Industrial Rd Norfolk Southern Railyard in Harrisburg, PA in a recession proof industry! This is an entry level position with on the job training. We'll teach you everything you need to know in order to be successful on the job. No Experience is required. The job is a combination of a Hostler Driver and Ground Person as they are 1 and the same job.

• A Hostler and a Jockey are the same thing.
• Drive a jockey truck moving 53ft trailers, containers, and chassis around the yard.
• Completing various Groundperson duties, climbing on and off railcars, locking and unlocking tracks, putting in and taking out inner box connectors (IBC's).
• Assist packer operators in loading and unloading the equipment using hand signals.
• Assist in the process of stacking and unstacking chassis as well as loading and unloading chassis racks.
• Other assigned duties.

The information contained in this ad applies to the Industrial Rd, Harrisburg Yard ONLY as other yards my offer a different pay scale and different benefits.

Compensation:

• $19.98/hr (overtime rate is $29.97/hr).
• 2 raises each in your 1st and 2nd year, 1 raise yearly after year 3.
• Potential to earn $55,000 - $70,000 annually in hourly pay with overtime.

Shifts:
There are 2 shift types you have the option to choose from: 

• 4 days a week working up to 12 hours a day with 3 days off.
• 5 days a week working up to 12 hours a day with 2 days off. (After a 60-day probationary period, you could also be required to work a mandatory 8 hr 6th day if you choose this option)

• 5:00 PM Shift.

Qualifications: 

• NO JOCKEY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
• Be at least 18 years old & have a valid Driver's License.
• Pass a 7 year background check. (Felonies in the last 7 yrs, jail time, parole, or probation in the last 5 yrs could disqualify applicants)
• Pass a drug test & a Physical Capabilities Test.
• No GED or diploma required.
• Strong communication skills required.

APPLICANTS MUST currently live within a 45-minute commute of Harrisburg, PA. OUT OF AREA candidates and/or those requiring relocation will NOT be considered.
