JOB TITLE: Scale Operator 

REPORTS TO: Controller

JOB TYPE: Full-time, Non-Exempt

LOCATION: 1515Scottsville Rd, Rochester NY 14623

HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday thru Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM

OVER TIME: Rotating Saturday’s 

COMPENSATION: $17-20/hour, based on skills and experience.
 

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Scale Operator position is to accurately record weights and measures of inbound / outbound truck / car loads. Record peddler credentials and process and validate payout transactions. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Answers telephone.
• Oversee scale operation.
• Greet and assist customers in a friendly manner, provide quality customer service.
• Provide metal recycling information to customers.
• Transaction computer entries.
• Prepare daily/weekly ATM and cash reports.
• Balance and handle cash drawer on a daily basis.
• Prepares customer BOLs for outgoing shipments.
• Compiles and fax weights shipped to customers post shipments as per customer expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Computer competency Excel & Word.
• Weights and measures background a plus.
• Organizational skills.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Professional conduct.
• Multitasker.
• One year of experience in a similar position a plus.
• Valid driver’s license.
