Department: Food & Nutrition Services
Assignment Dates: 13 weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (40 hours per week)
Job Overview:
In this role, you will provide comprehensive nutrition care, patient education, and diet planning. You'll assess patients' nutritional needs, monitor food and drug interactions, and work closely with physicians to ensure appropriate dietary modifications.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Conducting nutrition screenings and assessments
• Developing and monitoring patient nutrition care plans
• Educating patients and families on prescribed diets
• Reviewing labs and medical records to support nutrition planning
• Documenting food and drug interactions
• Collaborating with physicians and clinical staff
• Modifying patient menus based on care needs
Qualifications:
• Minimum 1 year of clinical dietitian experience
• Degree in Dietetics or Foods & Nutrition from an accredited institution
• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential through CDR (required for acute care)
• NY State Dietitian-Nutritionist Certification (required for post-acute/LTC)
• Strong patient education and communication skills
Preferred:
• 2 years of experience
• Master's Degree
• AHA BLS Certification
