Travel Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
Location: Bethpage, NY
Start Date: 11/10
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights, 8 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 37.5
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend required
HumanEdge Health is seeking a Travel Sterile Processing Technician for a large, state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center supporting 9 facilities , including tertiary hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. This role ensures surgical instruments and equipment are sterilized, assembled, and maintained according to strict protocols to support safe patient care.
Disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package surgical instruments and supplies per manufacturer instructions and departmental protocols
Operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, autoclaves, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional sterilization equipment
Follow instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts
Retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from surgical and clinical areas for decontamination
Inspect instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality; report malfunctions promptly
Assist in maintaining department inventory and ordering supplies
Maintain a contaminant-free work environment and adhere to safety protocols
Rotate through all areas of sterile processing, including decontamination, with prolonged standing and manual work
Required:
Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST or CSPD, must not expire during assignment)
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1.5 years experience in a tertiary facility or 2+ years in other settings
Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds and perform manual tasks including standing, bending, and reaching
Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Preferred:
2+ years experience in sterile processing
Equipment & IT Systems:
STERIS washers, autoclave
SynergyTrak
Shift Details:
Nights: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Every other weekend required
