Responsibilities
- Strategy and Vision Development
- Create a cohesive vision for the Pharmacy function across the network, focusing on growth opportunities.
- Set functional objectives and establish short?term and long?range strategies in partnership with local and network pharmacy leaders.
- Design and implement key strategic initiatives to improve the pharmacy revenue cycle, system integration, purchasing power, replenishment and inventory control.
- Identify community needs and new revenue opportunities, develop program proposals, and lead marketing and outreach efforts.
- Create and oversee network advisory councils of subject matter experts.
- Ensure the pharmacy function stays competitive, identifying trends, best practices and innovative solutions.
- Communicate vision and strategy to local sites and hold leaders accountable for execution.
- Lead relevant clinical research initiatives across the pharmacy function.
- Policies and Procedures
- Develop and revise the Pharmacy Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Administer a network?wide formulary management and medication usage review program.
- Identify medication cost?saving initiatives through utilization and operational changes.
- Oversee drug distribution policies and collaborate with nursing.
- Maintain policies for pharmacy, in collaboration with local and network leaders.
- Develop curriculum for pharmacy students within the network.
- Establish a network?wide patient experience approach and develop patient care policies.
- Collaborate on a drug diversion monitoring and prevention program.
- Performance Management
- Establish a standard drug formulary across the network while accounting for specialized needs.
- Ensure pharmacy integration into care pathways.
- Execute productivity measurement programs and report metrics.
- Implement process improvements based on performance data.
- Leverage benchmarking tools for operational improvements.
- Allocate resources for the pharmacy function based on volume, expense projections and risk/benefit analysis.
- Assist in budgeting, monitor key financial indicators and pharmaceutical spend.
- Equipment, Purchasing, and Contracts
- Coordinate equipment and drug purchases with central purchasing.
- Develop a long?range capital plan for pharmacy services.
- Create centralized purchasing and service agreements.
- Develop a drug shortage risk mitigation strategy.
- Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation
- Ensure required licenses for each pharmacy facility.
- Establish policies and standards in conformance with TJC, DEA, licensure requirements and hospital policy.
- Optimize and expand the 340B program while maintaining compliance.
- Quality and Metrics
- Implement procedure changes to improve patient experience and outcomes.
- Monitor and improve metrics and outcome measures.
- Support achievement of national quality, safety and experience metrics.
- People Management
- Make hiring and performance decisions with facility and network leaders.
- Train, coach, and develop pharmacy leaders.
- Ensure orderly succession planning.
- Conduct performance appraisals objectively and timely.
- Relationship Management
- Collaborate with leaders across the network to align pharmacy strategy with system standards.
- Community and Industry Relations
- Represent HMH in community, state, and national programs.
- Participate in industry bodies to bring best practices to HMH.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, an advanced degree in Pharmacy (PharmD or Masters of Science) or a Master's in Business Administration.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations and hospital clinical pharmacy management, with at least 7?8 years in a leadership role.
- Excellent financial management, delegation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish and measure metrics to assess success of the functional area.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance as related to the functional area.
- Knowledge of healthcare metrics, benchmarks, and standards that drive industry performance.
- Ability to implement and execute a successful business transformation.
- Ability to develop a high?performing team in a matrix environment, articulate a clear vision and lead employees through change while building trust and buy?in.
- Strong leadership presence, relationship building skills and ability to influence and lead across all levels.
- Creative and transformational problem?solver.
- Strong business acumen focused on maximizing business and financial results, including 340B experience.
- Knowledge of healthcare industry trends to assess future market needs.
- A market shaper and innovator within the HMH culture.
- Demonstrated accomplishments advancing pharmacy practice and developing business lines.
Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred
- 5 years of clinical experience preferred.
- Proven competence in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) or Google Productivity Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
Licenses And Certifications Required
- Current State licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh).
Compensation
Starting at $360,859.20 Annually.
HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market?competitive total rewards package.
