Summary/Objective

The IBM i Consultant is engaged in technology solutions including functional design, development, testing, and user interaction required to meet the client’s requirements. The role will require critical thinking skills including technical review as well as interaction with client team members to determine source of issues and resolutions. Technical skills will be primarily focus on the IMB i but will extend to other technologies for interface and interaction.

This is a client facing role requiring excellent relationship management and communication skills as well as technical skills. The IBM i Consultant is responsible for the following Focus Areas:

• Functioning in a perform role – Solution Functional and Technical Design, Development, Testing, and Deployment
• Functioning in a consultative role providing guidance and assistance as requested to fellow team members
• Function is a perform role for Client Support
• Act as both a hands-on contributor and a strategic leader across client engagements
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building trust and ensuring alignment between business goals and technical execution
• Lead project scoping, planning, and execution in collaboration with clients and internal teams
• Facilitate communication between clients and internal teams to manage expectations and resolve issues proactively
• Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, estimates, and client presentations

Strong background in client-facing roles, including requirements gathering, solution design, and stakeholder management

Provide technical expertise in:

Excellent IMB i development skills

Strong ability to debug, analyze and communicate issues and suggested resolutions

Strong IMB i DB2 SQL skills

REST web services functioning on the IMB i using JSON

Ability to work with the IFS

Knowledge of relevant third-party software solutions and usage

Required Education and Experience

Proven ability to develop and implement high-quality software solutions

Minimum 5 years of IMB i development, design, and functional support experience

Base knowledge of overall IMB i technology stack
