Study Hotels is currently seeking a motivated  Security Officer to join our team at  The Study at University of Chicago .

This role is part-time, with mandatory two overnight shifts per week at a pay rate of $23/hour. There will be opportunities for 1-2 additional shifts a week.

Job Summary

The Security Officer is responsible for securing the hotel personnel, guests, and overall premises by remaining on patrol, monitoring surveillance and entry points, and verifying visitors. They will have a sharp eye with quick reaction time in the detection of any suspicious or criminal behavior, and prevention of theft or vandalism.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspections on the premises to ensure everything is in order.
  • Check-in vendors and deliveries.
  • Ensure vendors have the appropriate escort throughout the back areas of the hotel.
  • Responsible for monitoring the CCTVs.
  • Work with the Director of Engineering to identify vulnerable spots of the CCTV.
  • Investigate accidents, thefts, and other safety concerns pertaining to guests and coordinate with Human Resources for team members.
  • Maintain and monitor lost and found processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for key maintenance, conduct departmental key control audits, and maintain key control records.
  • Maintain emergency safety procedures.
  • Prepare reports on all activities that take place in the hotel.
  • Responsible for reporting incidents to the appropriate channels.
  • Performs other duties if required and as assigned, as stated above may not be inclusive of every task needed to achieve results.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education:
    • HS Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Ability to maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
    • Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments, guests, and vendors.
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Flexibility to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
    • Proficiency in English required, Spanish speaking proficiency a plus.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years’ experience required.
  • Physical:
    • Ability to grasp, lift and or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 50 lbs.
    • Ability to sit, stand, and walk in intervals for a full 8+ hour shift, indoors with a thematically climate-controlled workstation and for outdoor rounds.
    • Ability to make property rounds in all non-extreme weather conditions.
    • Study Hotels is a drug-free workplace.
  • Other:
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Satisfactory completion of background check.
    • Copy of DD214, if Veteran status.
