ROAD STRUCTURES WORKER I

The County of San Diego is currently accepting job applications for Road Structures Worker I. Employees in this job class perform work in the construction, repair, and preventive maintenance of County-maintained road and bridge structures, culverts, guardrails, masonry walls, concrete curb and gutters, and related structures.
HIRING TIMELINE AND DATES The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below. Interviews, Job Offers and Background Process will be ongoing. (Current County employees may be exempt from the background process.)
Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
One (1) year of experience constructing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of road and bridge structures, culverts, related structures, and concrete finishing work; OR ,
One (1) year of construction experience which has included general carpentry work.

NOTES: A valid California Class B driver's license with a tank endorsement and without transmission or air brake restrictions, and a current medical card is required at time of appointment, and both must be maintained throughout employment in this class. Some positions require a Class A California Driver's License. Employees in this class are subject to random testing per DOT guidelines. CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
EVALUATION PROCESS
The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month eligible list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment and supplemental application. Please ensure all information is complete and accurate as the responses you provide on the supplemental application form will be reviewed using an automated evaluation system. If you are successful in the initial screening process, your application will be reviewed individually to confirm that the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.
