Principal Responsibilities:
- Project Execution and Coordination – Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure electrical designs meet project requirements while adhering to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Electrical Design & EPLAN Modeling – Develop accurate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, and device routing using EPLAN Electric P8 (and Pro Panel where applicable), producing intelligent, data-rich design packages optimized for fabrication and installation.
- Power & Controls Integration – Design low-voltage power distribution, motor control, instrumentation, and control system layouts that integrate with mechanical and process systems.
- Design Review and Quality Control – Conduct biweekly design reviews, perform drawing checks, and participate in clash detection/model integration efforts to identify and resolve issues before fabrication.
- Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing – Provide structured mentorship to junior designers and/or contract resources to ensure knowledge transfer, design continuity, and continuous improvement.
- Continuous Improvement – Contribute to the development and refinement of electrical design standards, EPLAN symbol libraries, macros, templates, and best practices to improve long-term productivity and design quality.
Required Qualifications and Experience:

- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or CAD technology is required; a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is a plus.
- 10+ years of relevant electrical design experience in industrial, manufacturing, or process environments.
- Strong proficiency in EPLAN Electric P8, with 2–3+ full years of active, hands-on use preferred. (Pro Panel experience is a plus.)
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical is beneficial but not a substitute for EPLAN expertise.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other business tools.
- Strong understanding of:
- Low-voltage industrial power distribution (208V–600V)
- Equipment layout and electrical room design
- MCCs, VFDs, and motor schematics
- PLC hardware design, I/O wiring, and instrumentation integration
- Industrial control panel design per UL 508A
- Cable tray and conduit routing design
- Ability to develop and interpret one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and load schedules.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70/79, IEEE, UL).
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in drawings, models, and specifications.
- Effective time management for handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills with project managers, engineers, and craftspeople.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience managing EPLAN component libraries, macros, templates, and CAD standards.
- Familiarity with both industrial (non-clean) and sanitary (clean/hygienic) manufacturing environments.
- Understanding of structural and mechanical interfaces, including cable tray loading and conduit support details.
- Ability to coordinate electrical components with mechanical, piping, and structural designers in shared 3D model environments.
