American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position with strong GI/GU skills and Epic charting experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Work in a high-turnover Medical Surgical unit specializing in GI/GU and medical overflow patients
  • Short term acute care, Magnet designated, Level I Trauma, teaching hospital setting
  • Typical patient diagnoses include ostomy, colon resection, colon cancer, bladder cancer, GU, and medical overflow
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-6
  • Night shift position (3x12s, 19:00-07:30); first week orientation on day shifts (07:00-17:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibility
  • Floating may occur within service line
  • Administration of drips such as Heparin, Lidocaine (pain only), Bicarb, Bivalirudin, and Amiodarone (stable, non-titrated) as well as PCAs, epidurals, and CBIs
  • Equipment and procedures include telemetry, foleys, continuous bladder irrigation, TURPs, and colorectal protocols
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Deliver excellent care to GI/GU surgical and medical overflow patients
  • Maintain high-quality documentation and work effectively as part of a collaborative team
  • No more than 7 days of requested time off per contract permitted; no time off during first week of orientation
  • Scrub color requirement is navy
  • Night shift staff may park in employee parking at no charge; orientation parking at a designated garage is not reimbursed
  • RTO (Requested Time Off) restrictions apply: max 7 days, none during orientation
  • Travelers may stay up to 18 months and must take a 3-month break after

  • Active MO or Compact RN license required; pending accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • Experience and proficiency with Epic charting required
  • Strong IV, phlebotomy, colostomy, feeding tube, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC management, and telemetry (remote monitoring) skills required
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam and demonstrate interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • No first-time travelers accepted
  • Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius
  • Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as travelers
